A difficult decision

Surrender for rehoming

We are here to support you and your pet through this challenging time with compassion and understanding.

Our process

How to surrender your dog

  1. Complete our online surrender form with all relevant information about your pet.
  2. A member of our team will contact you to discuss any further questions.
  3. If your dog is a good fit, we arrange a 15–20 minute behaviour assessment at our facility.
  4. A heartworm test is required. A negative result allows us to welcome your dog into the shelter.

FAQ

Common questions about surrendering

What does it mean to surrender to a no-kill shelter?

Your pet will not be euthanized for space or adoptability reasons. Our focus is on providing a safe environment and finding a loving new home, no matter how long it takes.

Will my pet be evaluated before being accepted?

Yes. We conduct a behaviour assessment to understand your pet's temperament, which helps us determine the best care and support while they are with us.

What happens if my pet has health issues?

We will be transparent about potential costs and care involved in rehoming. Some treatments can be lengthy and expensive, so we take these precautions to protect your pet and our resources.
